Westpac seeks to freeze assets of girlfriend Louise Agostino
Ms Agostino has not filed a Notice of Appointment for Counsel and has been in Greece since mid-July. She is now the 47th defendant in Westpac’s claim. The freezing order, granted by Judge Michael Lee, is to be emailed to Ms Agostino, and she will be notified by text.
Lawyers dealing with the sale of his apartment will be notified.
Leaving Australia
In July, FRG weekend revealed the first evidence – including photographs – showing that Mr Papas was in the coastal city of Thessaloniki with Ms Agostino. Until then, it was believed Ms Agostino was in Australia and may have booked Mr Papas a flight home to deal with the allegations against him.
“It seems that instead of Mrs. Agostino arranging Mr. Papas’ return, she managed to arrange his departure, and one finds splashed in the media with photographs of Mr. Papas and Mrs. Agostino in Thessaloniki, who are said to be d ‘news,’ Jeremy Giles, SC, said during a Federal Court hearing in July, referring to the FRG weekend.
In October, this masthead revealed the Home Office had approved Ms Agostino’s exit from Australia, 11 days after Westpac went public with her sensational cheating allegations against her boyfriend, Mr Papas, and its group of companies.
Westpac made fraud allegations against Mr. Papas and Forum Group worth $285 million on July 2. This was followed within days by another $9 million from French bank Societe Generale and another $100 million from Japan’s Sumitomo Mitsui Banking in mid-July.
