Officials and attendees at TotalEnergies EP Qatar’s annual HSE Contractor’s Forum recently.
Doha: Up to 60 participants from TotalEnergies and key contracting companies with senior management engagement shared discussions, thoughts and ideas at TotalEnergies EP Qatar’s annual “HSE Entrepreneurs Forum” held under the theme “Integration of human and organizational factors”. The annual forum promotes informative exchanges to reinforce TotalEnergies best practices in compliance, safety and sustainability through open discussions.
“At the Al Khalij Oilfield, contractors make up a significant portion of our workforce and are therefore integral to the company’s safety performance. The HSE Contractors Forum was an opportunity to exchange views and best practices around safety and sustainability with a particular focus on human behavior,” said Matthieu Bouyer, National President and CEO of TotalEnergies EP Qatar, during his opening speech at the event.
The company recently introduced new programs to existing campaigns that promote safe and sustainable operations, such as Zero-Fatality, Redesigned Golden Rules, and Carbon Footprint Roadmap. In addition to its objective of zero fatalities in the exercise of its activities, TotalEnergies has set itself the objective of continuously reducing the TRIR indicator for all of the Company’s personnel and its subcontractors.
Bouyer thanked all the service providers who contributed and continuously demonstrated their strong commitment to TotalEnergies’ safety culture. He also praised the high level of security on the Al Khalij asset, mentioning that the team just celebrated 5 years without any lost time injuries.
TotalEnergies reiterated its efforts to foster greater communication and called for the effective participation of all those who work for or on behalf of TotalEnergies. By enforcing a “no blame” culture, the Company has empowered all entrepreneurs to speak up.
“The importance of supportive leadership is crucial to creating a positive work and safety culture, and so we are setting the tone for how employees and contractors interact with each other,” said Boyer.
The session welcomed expert speaker Raphael Waxin, in charge of Human and Organizational Factors and Safety Culture at TotalEnergies headquarters in France. He led a workshop highlighting human and organizational factors and their influence on behaviors in various work situations.
In his closing remarks, Bouyer said: “Our motto is to establish a real culture of health, safety, environment and sustainability that goes far beyond the existing set of rules. Sustainable operation is above all safe operation, and while it is encouraging to see a good partnership between TotalEnergies and its service providers on the commitment to safety, we must continue all our efforts to fully embark everyone on the path to a HSE Global Culture”.
