The Honorable Harjit S. Sajjan addresses the TrueNorth Business Development Forum

The Minister shared his vision for how PacifiCan will work with British Columbians to spur economic development in communities like Prince George and all along British Columbia.

As a new federal agency dedicated to British Columbia, PacifiCan will be a long-term partner in the economic success of British Columbians. Over the coming year, PacifiCan will expand its field presence beyond its current office to Vancouver. This will include a new headquarters in Surrey and staff in Campbell River, Cranbrook, Fort St. Jean, Kelowna, Prince Rupert, Victoria and Prince George.

In his remarks, Minister Sajjan described how PacifiCan is equipped with $110 million one year to support economic development by investing in BC businesses and communities and helping British Columbians through advice, guidance and convocation. Minister Sajjan emphasized that partnerships between governments, industry and community are the key to sustainable economic success.

The Minister also referred to more than $1.9 million in investments for six beneficiaries in Prince George and surrounding communities that he announced earlier today during his visit to the Exploration Place Museum and Science Center in Prince George.

Minister Sajjan concluded his remarks by emphasizing that PacifiCan is committed to working with British Columbians to build a more inclusive, vibrant and stronger economy in communities across the province.
