The APEC inter-fora forum will be organized by the T-REC

Many countries around the world currently have REC systems in place. However, each system faces varying challenges, such as limitation by local renewable energy policies or energy industry environment and greenhouse gas management standards. Compared to other economies, Taiwan The official REC system has produced significant results in a short time and has been held in high esteem by the international community. Director Link Chin-chang, Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection pointed out that since 2017, Taiwan issued more than 1.06 million certificates, equivalent to 1.06 billion kWh of renewable energy, demonstrating the exceptional capacity of the system. He promises: “We will continue to play a role that expresses itself and shares Taiwan experiences, to bring APEC partners together to discuss setting regional standards for a REC system.

International experts invited to the forum include: Tim MiddlehurstManaging Director of the New Zealand Energy Certificate Scheme (NZECS); Chih-Wen HuangDirector of the Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection (BSMI), Ministry of Economic Affairs, Taiwan; Ts. Mohd Adzha Husin, deputy director of SEDA Malaysia; Benjamin L. Gerber, president and CEO of the Midwest Renewable Energy Tracking System (M-RETS); Hans KohlsdorfFounding Partner of Energy To Market (E2M), Mexico; Marc WilliamsonExecutive Director General of the Clean Energy Regulator (CER), France; Eva Leihener-Stefan, President of L’Oréal Taiwan; Hidetoshi MishimaChief Technology Officer of Mitsubishi Electric, and Jennifer Martinexecutive director of the Center for Resource Solutions (CRS), United States. Regional member partners will lead discussions on policy development, market challenges and business support of a REC system.

Experts from all domestic and foreign industries are participating in the workshop, including more than 20 delegates from 6 APEC member economies, the New Zealand Bureau of Trade and Industry and the Australian Taipei Office.
