Schlumberger Digital Forum Features Powerful Speakers This Week

Luzern, Switzerland (WO) — Schlumberger’s Digital Forum 2022 kicks off today with its first full day of speakers and presentations, following Monday evening’s icebreaker reception. The theme of the event is “Connecting for a New Future”. Around 1,000 attendees at the event in Luzern, the KKL conference venue in Switzerland, hear from a panel of high-level operators and other industry leaders on how the global challenges and opportunities facing the industry faces can be met by new levels of ‘connectivity’.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, Forum participants hear remarks and presentations prepared by various executives, and also hear from some of them in panel discussions. In the afternoon, a wide variety of technical presentations across nine categories will take place, along with additional executive panels featuring executives responsible for digital operations at their respective companies. On Thursday, the program will focus solely on the nine technical categories.

Tuesday program. The program began earlier in the day with the plenary, featuring a keynote address from Schlumberger CEO Olivier Le Peuch, followed by a second set of keynote addresses from Saudi Aramco Chairman and CEO Amin Nasser. The first panel, “All Connected,” featured comments from Woodside Energy CEO and Managing Director Meg O’Neil, IBM President and CEO Arvind Krishna, and Ecopetrol CEO Felipe Bayón. A second pre-lunchtime panel featured Vicki Hollub, President and CEO of Occidental Petroleum, Dr. Pratima Rangarajan, CEO of OGCi Climate Investment, and Dr. Katharina Beumelburg, Director of Strategy and Sustainability at Schlumberger.

Technical presentations and leadership panels during the afternoon focused on specific technical categories. The presentations cover nine topics, including data, analytics and AI; drilling and construction of wells; Field development planning; production operations; Characterization of the subsoil; digital business transformation; energetic transition ; Flow Assurance and Facilities Management; and reservoir engineering and simulation. Leadership panels address the issue of achieving digital transformation; Transform field development and well deliverability; Transform oil and gas production; Accelerate the energy transition; and AI: energizing people and performance.

Wednesday program. Similar to Tuesday morning, Wednesday morning’s program will begin with a keynote address, this time from Petronas Group Chairman and CEO Datuk Tengku Muhammad Taufik. Following his remarks, a video address will be delivered by Chevron President and CEO Mike Wirth, followed by another round of keynote remarks from ConocoPhillips President and CEO Ryan Lance. Then, a panel discussion will ensue, featuring Schlumberger President for Digital and Integration, Rajeev Sonthalia, as well as Aker ASA President and CEO, Øyvind Eriksen, and President and CEO of the management of Rockwell Automation, Blake Moret. After the panel, Schlumberger’s Sonthalia returns for another keynote, followed by a “fireside chat” just before lunch, featuring dialogue between Schlumberger CEO Le Peuch and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella.

Wednesday afternoon’s technical program will be very similar to Tuesday afternoon’s, although there are only two leadership panels.

Thursday’s program. As mentioned earlier, Tuesday’s agenda will focus entirely on a half-day of technical presentations, covering most of the origin categories. The conference will conclude with lunch and a closing ceremony, ending at 2:00 p.m. local time.
