Regional Tourism Forum scheduled for Cleveland on June 8

A regional tourism forum will be held next week to explain to local businesses and municipal leaders what they can do to attract more tourists to the Delta.

Billed as “How THE DELTA Earns More Tourism” the forum will be held from 6-7 p.m. June 8 at the Grammy Museum in Cleveland. The event has been timed so that businesses that can benefit from tourism can attend.

The forum is free and sponsored by the Mississippi Press Association and the Mississippi Humanities Council.

The forum will focus on what is happening in the tourism industry in the delta and where the region would like to go.

Speakers at the event include: Emily Havens of the Grammy Museum; Sean Johnson, Bolivar County Director of Tourism; Malika Polk-Lee, Executive Director of the BB King Museum; Roger Stolle of Cat Head Delta Blues and Folk Art; Shelley Ritter, executive director of the Delta Museum; Wayne Dowdy, program manager of the Mississippi Delta National Heritage Area; Todd Campbell, Mississippi Delta National Heritage Area Grants Management Specialist: and Beth Stevens, Executive Director of the Greenwood-Leflore County Chamber of Commerce. Scott Coopwood, publisher of The Bolivar Bullet will be the moderator.

Keith Johnson, Muddy Water’s great-nephew, will host.
