Pandemonium as Suspected Mobsters Invade PDP Stakeholder Forum in Enugu

Enugu, Aninri – Stakeholders of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) were left in disarray when suspected thugs invaded party meetings in Aninri Local Government Area, Enugu State.

The Sun newspaper reports that the suspected thugs sparked chaos by launching a vicious attack that left several people injured.

Legit.ng found that the attack seriously injured Chinedu Okwu, a legislator representing Aninri State constituency in the House of Assembly.

Reacting to the attack, former Senate Deputy Speaker Ike Ekweremadu criticized the attack saying it was unfortunate and unacceptable to the party.

He said:

“The attack, which left many seriously injured and hospitalized, is at odds with the peaceful nature of Aninri. Therefore, I condemn in the strongest terms this attempt to stoke fire and political violence within our advice.

He further said that any attempt to disrupt the preparation for the 2023 general election will not be accepted by the party.

Ekweremadu however urged the security agencies to investigate and get to the bottom of the matter, apprehend the suspects and bring them to justice.

He sympathized with the victims of the attack wishing them a speedy recovery while urging PDP supporters to remain peaceful and behave themselves.

Similarly, a group known as the Nsukka Youth General Assembly (NYGA) condemned the attack saying that the group does not condone any act of violence that could disturb the political peace in the state.

According to a statement released by the NYGA on Sunday, April 10, local youth have been warned to discourage any act of violence by stating that they should not be allowed to be used as a tool of destruction by any politician.

2023: PDP Unveils Governor’s Ticket Zoning

In another development, the PDP in Plateau State says it has zoned its gubernatorial ticket for the Plateau Central Senatorial District.

Reportedly, PDP Publicity Secretary John Akans made the point in a statement released on Saturday, April 9.

According to Akans, the decision was made during the 85th meeting of the executive committee of the Plateau PDP State.

Meanwhile, emerging reports have confirmed that five southern governors elected on the PDP platform have demanded that the party stick to the zoning agreement.

The governors reiterated their position after a three-hour closed-door meeting in Abuja, the nation’s capital, on Friday, April 8.

PDP Southern Governors Forum Chairman and Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu insisted that the party must look to the south for justice and fairness.
