October opportunities for professional development, service with the UK Women’s Forum
LEXINGTON, Kentucky (October 14, 2022) — The University of Kentucky Women’s Forum will host two events this month focused on professional development and service to the local community. These events are open to all members of the university community.
The fall professional development series will focus on career development and advancement. This month, Natalie Lindgren, UK Human Resources Manager, will discuss “opportunities for professional development as a UK employee”. The month-long service project is a fundraising campaign to support women in addiction treatment at Isaiah House Women’s Centers in central Kentucky.
The UK Women’s Forum will host Natalie Lindgren, UK HR Manager for Learning and Development, from 12pm to 1pm on Tuesday 25th October. Lindgren will discuss opportunities in the UK for employees to develop their knowledge, skills and networks. This in-person event will take place at the Gatton College of Business and Economics in room 311. Lunch will be provided. Lindgren arrived in the UK as Head of Training and Human Resources Development in 2016 and has been responsible for people and processes for almost 25 years. After earning a degree in business management from the University of Asbury, she began a career in consumer banking where she managed branch operations. She then moved into managerial training and coaching, eventually becoming vice president of financial operations where she led a team that coached and trained employees, managers and executives on topics ranging from compliance to people management.
Until October 31, the UK Women’s Forum will be collecting items to fill gift bags for women in drug treatment at Isaiah House women’s centers in central Kentucky. The following items are needed for the gift bags:
- shampoo/conditioner and various types of hair care items;
- toothbrushes/toothpastes;
- body sprays;
- lotions;
- nail care articles;
- scrunchies; and
- hair combs/bushes.
Papers can be dropped off at the Professional Development Session on October 25 or throughout October at any of the following locations:
- Gatton College of Business and Economics (Room 359);
- Gatton Student Center (suite C201, suite 239); Where
- British Chandler Hospital Pavilion (Room H8 – Basement).

Isaiah House Women’s Center is a 28-bed facility in a beautiful and serene setting located across from Kentucky Castle in Woodford County. They also have two locations in Harrodsburg, Kentucky. The women’s program offers healing, support and counseling for substance use disorder recovery to 60 women in central Kentucky.
From the start, the UK Women’s Forum has existed to create an equitable community at university. As the role of women in the workplace continues to evolve, their commitment remains the same: to create space to discuss relevant issues and to use collective problem-solving and educational opportunities to empower and advocate for women.
