Nornickel will present an investment project in the Krasnoyarsk region at a forum in March

The Norilsk Nickel Company (Nornickel), the world’s largest producer of high-quality palladium and nickel and one of the largest producers of platinum and copper, will present at the Krasnoyarsk Economic Forum the South Cluster project aimed at expanding the assets industrial companies in the region. north, the Yenisei Siberia Development Corporation reported on Friday.
“The Nornickel company will present the South Cluster project, aimed at increasing production at the Zapolyarnaya mine, as well as modernizing the Norilsk enrichment plant,” the statement said. “In addition, the project will address broader strategic tasks, including the development of the Northern Sea Route and the increase of cargo transport along it to 80 million tons.”
The southern cluster unites the northern part of the Norilsk-1 deposit, the Zapolyarny ore mine, the Medvezhiy Ruchei pit and the Norilsk enrichment plant. Earlier reports indicated that the company planned to invest in the project 70 billion rubles until 2027 ($832 million). The project is part of the Yenisei Siberia complex investment project. According to the development plan of the southern cluster, the total mining capacity of the northern part of the Norilsk-1 deposit will be nine million tons.
About the coal cluster
Another project that will be presented at the Krasnoyarsk Economic Forum is the project of the Severnaya Zvezda company (part of AEON Corporation) to build a coal cluster on the Syradasay deposit (110 kilometers southeast of the settlement of Dickson). The cluster is a coal pit with a capacity of 5 million tons per year at the initial stage and 10 million tons per year at the second stage. The project also includes the construction of a factory, the Yenisei seaport, a road, a city for shift workers, a power plant and an airfield. The amount of investments until 2025 will be more than 45 billion rubles (535 million dollars).
The Yenisei Siberia will present other projects at the forum: organizing a machine complex in the Krasnoyarsk Technology Valley special economic zone, building a biotechnology complex in the Boguchansky district, renovating the former Krasnoyarsk shipyard, building the center of Krasnoyarsk-City Affairs.
The Yenisei Siberia Comprehensive Investment Project aims to implement national projects in Khakassiya, Tuva and the Krasnoyarsk region. It was launched in late 2017. Russian President Vladimir Putin backed the idea in February 2018. In April 2018, the regions signed a cooperation agreement under the project.
