Navitas accelerates the adoption of electric vehicles and sponsors the International New Energy Vehicle Forum

Next-generation gallium nitride (GaN) semiconductor to replace older silicon chips, delivers up to 3x faster charging, longer range and lower costs
EL SEGUNDO, Calif., July 27 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Navitas Semiconductor (Nasdaq: NVTS), the industry leader in gallium nitride (GaN) power integrated circuits (ICs), has announced its sponsorship of the upcoming 12e China International New Energy Vehicle (NEV) Forum, starting August 4e-5e in Suzhou, China. NEV 2022 combines an exhibition with technical presentations, and will bring together more than 1000 industry representatives and showcase the very latest developments in automotive power and infrastructure.
GaN is a next-generation power semiconductor technology that operates 20 times faster than traditional silicon. Compared to traditional silicon systems, GaN can achieve 3x more power or 3x faster charging with up to 40% energy savings in just half the size and weight. GaNFast™ power ICs with GaNSense™ technology integrate power, drive, control, with additional self-contained protection and lossless current sensing to deliver the simplest, smallest, fastest and now even higher.
Mr. Hao SUN, Senior Manager of Navitas Electric Vehicle Design Center, will introduce “A GaNFast Future in EV Applications” on August 5e at 4 p.m. The Electric Vehicle Design Center houses a highly experienced team of world-class power system designers with comprehensive electrical, thermal and mechanical design capabilities, software development, and comprehensive simulation and prototyping capabilities. Electric vehicle customers are supported from concept to prototype, through to full qualification and mass production.
On-board chargers (OBCs), DC-DC converters, and GaN-powered traction inverters are estimated to extend EV range or reduce battery costs by 5%, and accelerate the adoption of EVs in the 3 year old world. It is estimated that an EV upgrade to GaN will reduce CO from the road sector2 emissions of 20%/year by 2050, the objective of the Paris Agreement. Navitas was the first company to publish a sustainability report that comprehensively quantifies the positive impact of GaN power semiconductors on climate change based on global standards, and recently announced that it was the first semiconductor company in the world to be CarbonNeutral certified®.
“Automakers must address the challenges of charging speed, range anxiety and cost if they are to accelerate the mass adoption of electric vehicles, critical to meeting global net-zero emissions goals,” said Charles Zha, vice president and general manager of Navitas China. “NEV 2022 is the perfect place to showcase the GaN ICs that help companies meet these challenges and to preview the developments and solutions that will be key to next-generation electric vehicle designs.”
