About the Music Manager Forum

The Music Managers Forum is the world’s largest professional community of music managers, representing 1250 members, from grassroots to managers representing the biggest bands on the planet and everything in between. We educate, innovate and advocate for our members.

We are the founders of effective campaigns such as #LetTheMusicMove, FanFair Campaign against Secondary Ticketing and Dissecting the Digital Dollar, as well as initiatives such as our Accelerator music manager development program, the MMF Unite anti-racism event series and the Music Managers Guide to Mental Health.

The role

We are currently living in the most exciting time in the history of the Music Managers Forum as we approach our 30th anniversary. with membership growing by approximately 70% over the past few years, and our expanding programs, partnerships and events.

We are looking for a dynamic and ambitious Industry Relations Manager to drive the Artist & Manager Awards, our corporate partnerships and events program, grow opportunities for MMF members and grow revenue to support the development and organizational sustainability. Current MMF Associate Members include YouTube Music, TikTok, Amazon Music, Spotify, Songtrust, Patreon, accounting firms, law firms, tech companies, universities, and 50 other companies that want to engage with music managers .

This position will require a highly organized creative thinker and relationship builder with experience building and maintaining relationships, exceptional account management skills and a willingness to host partner events. We are looking for a proactive, confident, diplomatic and clear communicator who anticipates with a strategic approach.

Experience in the music industry is desirable, but not essential. This may suit someone with an entrepreneurial spirit and an interest in new music technologies. Responsibilities
  • Partnerships – Acquisition, Account and Relationship Management
  • Proactively identify, prospect, negotiate with, define deliverables for and onboard new corporate associate members. These would be suitable companies from the music industry, technology and other services, which will provide opportunities for music managers.
  • Manage incoming partnership requests and determine company compatibility for potential partnerships.
  • Maximize revenue from partnerships in order to grow and further develop the MMF and the service offered to members.
  • Work collaboratively with existing Associate Members to deliver value through partnership activities outlined in proposals, eg, events, roundtables, marketing opportunities.
  • Develop new initiatives in collaboration with associate members, for example, legal and accounting helplines.
  • Provide excellent customer service to Associate Members, responding to inquiries in a timely manner and proactively identifying opportunities beneficial to them.
  • Coordinate Associate Member updates to be shared via channels such as Member Newsletter and MMF social media.
  • Manage administrative processes involved in onboarding new Associate Members – coordinate billing and account activation.
  • Nurture relationships with potential partners and constantly seek to develop new relationships that will benefit the organization’s lead pipeline.
Member Events
  • Lead overall MMF event programming and global programming, with input from the wider MMF team.
  • Host in-person and online events to achieve Associate Partnership deliverables and provide unique and engaging learning and networking opportunities for MMF members.
  • Coordinate MMF activity at conferences such as The Great Escape, SXSW, Reeperbahn, etc.
  • Set up new events to boost member engagement.
Artist and Manager Award
  • Project management of our flagship awards event, the Artist & Manager Awards, working with support from MMF and FAC (sister organization) teams, production manager and other support to deliver the event from start to finish .
  • Responsible for overall P/L in collaboration with associates/sponsors – ensures revenue is maximized and costs controlled.
  • Establish a planning schedule and delegate within the team, while working on all aspects of the event – from sponsorship and ticket sales, to the nomination process, to liaising with sponsors, winners /nominees and the production of shows in collaboration with the contracted event producer.
  • With the General Manager, identify freelancers/contractors to support resourcing and manage interns and volunteers.
  • You may, from time to time, be required to perform other duties outside of these core responsibilities.
Skills and competences

Essential

  • 5+ years of experience in a similar or relevant role.
  • Excellent time management skills, ability to manage multiple high priority projects simultaneously and work well under pressure.
  • Sales ability and experience in securing new business.
  • Experience in delivering events (online and in person).
  • Great attention to detail and excellent project management and communication skills.
  • A keen interest in music management, new technologies and innovation in the music industry. For example, new social media platforms, live streaming, NFTs.
  • Creative thinker with the ability to produce impactful membership/sponsorship proposal presentations, event marketing and relevant visual assets.
Desirable
  • Experience in the music industry.
  • Existing relationships with potential partners at the level of budget holders and decision makers.
