Molycop acquires plant monitoring company DCL

Grinding media specialist Molycop has announced the acquisition of grinder monitoring company Digital Control Labs.

DCL, based in Florida, USA, manufactures three different monitoring systems for cement and semi-autogenous (SAG) mills, which provide real-time information on asset operations.

“This acquisition will strengthen our position as a leading provider of digital solutions for global mining and industrial markets,” said Molycop CEO Jim Anderson, adding that it represents an important step in the company’s digital transformation. ‘business.

“Our vision is to leverage DCL’s market reputation, product offering, domain expertise and intellectual property in plant monitoring solutions, building on the current portfolio of technical services and digital technologies from Molycop, to create the first platform for monitoring and optimizing mineral processing circuits.”

Molycop is the world leader in abrasives, manufacturing them at 12 sites worldwide and beginning with the Commonwealth Steel Company in Newcastle in 1918.

It has been owned by private equity firm American Industrial Partners since 2016, following the collapse of Molycop’s former parent company, Arrium.

Digital Control Labs began in 1998 as electronics consulting company DiCon Labs.
