Europe: Elena Kountoura, Member of the European Parliament, gave an update on the 6th European Forum of Left, Green and Progressive Forces, which will be organized by the SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance. It will take place from Friday 21 to Sunday 23 October, under the theme “For peace, social and climate n justice in Athens.

The central political debate, which will be attended by the President of the Progressive Alliance SYRIZA, Alexis Tsipras, will take place today Friday 21/10 at 20:00 (hybrid) with the participation of party leaders and important token political leaders from Europe .

The Forum includes three major thematic discussions on the issues of solidarity, the climate crisis and the social and ecological orientation of Europe, war, peace and a new architectural collective insurance yeah, while throughout the weekend- end, many other workshops and one-on-one meetings will take place on policy topics.

The work of the Forum will open today Friday 21/10 at 2.30 p.m. and will take place at the Serafio Center of the Municipality of Athens.

During SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance President Alexis Tsipras’ keynote speech at the European #Forum, Elena Kountoura said: “We need in Greece and Europe a strong visionary plan for peace, social and climate justice that only the progressive forces can implement.

At the EC plenary session, she called on the EU to immediately ratify the Istanbul Convention and adopt a comprehensive directive to combat domestic violence, for better protection of women and children against violence sexual.

The Convention is the first legally binding international text of its kind, under which signatory states are required to follow rigorous and binding criteria for the prevention of domestic and domestic violence, the protection of victims and the punishment of the victim.

“Precariousness brutally affects businesses, households and employees, and the energy crisis benefits supervisors, not consumers.” Implement a collective and united European plan to deal with the energy crisis based on at least five basic institutional interventions,” said the MEP.
