Hot Button Issues Addressed at NE GOP Governors Forum

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Nebraska’s GOP gubernatorial candidates were invited Wednesday to a Republican Primary Governors Forum hosted by the Greater Omaha House at the University of Nebraska’s Omaha Scott Conference Center.

Candidates answered questions related to immigration, bettering Nebraska, education, environmental concerns, racial equity, and a variety of other topics.

Brett Lindstrom, Charles Herbster and Thresa Thibodeau were present. Jim Pillen was the only Republican candidate not present.

Although not an open debate, the candidates answered questions about the future of Nebraska and the people of the state.

Lindstrom, as he said in his closing statement, is focused on infrastructure and protecting individual freedoms. He also touted his experience as a plus for voters.

Herbster focused on “branding” for Nebraska, immigration enforcement as well as modernizing the current tax code.

Thibadeau cited taxes, education and residents’ concern that lawmakers aren’t listening. She went on to say at the start of the forum that “I understand, I understand what Nebraskanians go through every day.”
