High-level Saudi delegation to attend World Economic Forum 2022

Riyadh — Saudi Arabia will participate in the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2022, in Davos, Switzerland, with a high-level delegation that will attend a number of meetings between May 22 and May 26.

The WEF returns after a two-year absence due to the pandemic, and the theme for this year’s event – which has been billed as the biggest in the event’s history – is “History at a turning point: government policies and business strategies”.

Minister of State and member of the Cabinet of Ministers Dr Ibrahim Bin Abdulaziz Al-Assaf leads the Kingdom’s delegation, which includes Foreign Minister Prince Faisal Bin Farhan Bin Abdullah, Minister of Investment Eng . The Saudi delegation to the WEF will engage in meaningful dialogues with the Kingdom’s international partners in several public and private sessions to seek solutions to critical global challenges, including climate change, the emerging economic crisis, logistics and supply chains. disrupted supplies, geopolitical tensions, global energy security and the continued fallout from the pandemic.

The delegation will highlight the Kingdom’s continued local and international efforts to respond to the eight main themes of this year’s meetings at the WEF, which cover climate and nature, fairer economies, technology and innovation, jobs and skills, better business, health and healthcare, global cooperation, society and equity.

Members of the Saudi delegation will also present the Kingdom’s achievements in response to the global challenges presented by these themes. They will showcase the qualitative leap underway in the Saudi socio-economic and business landscape as it continues its ambitious diversification efforts under Vision 2030.

The Kingdom’s comprehensive social and economic empowerment plans – including doubling the representation of women in the labor market, accelerating the pace of job creation in new sectors – will also be discussed in detail during the meetings. of the delegation in Davos.

The Saudi delegation will also discuss the Kingdom’s widely acclaimed response and recovery efforts against COVID-19, the country’s booming healthcare industry, public health and safety becoming an increasingly important economic measure of the progress.

In addition, climate action policies and environmental projects underway in the Kingdom and the Middle East, including “The Middle East Green” initiative, will be explored by the delegation as they underline the Kingdom’s commitment to prioritize sustainability at all levels.

The delegation will also present the Kingdom’s long-term vision for the future and its strategic objective to develop a strong talent pool while attracting foreign talent to accelerate the adoption of smart solutions, advanced technologies and applications of the fourth industrial revolution.

The Saudi delegation will also present its views on the security of resources and raw materials, as well as its central role in ensuring the security and stability of energy markets. It would also highlight its long-term investments in innovative, clean and renewable energy sources to diversify the local and global energy mix.

This year’s World Economic Forum is expected to attract more than 2,500 top executives. They include heads of state, business leaders, investors, politicians and decision makers.

The sessions at the WEF this year have been designed to coincide with rapidly evolving geopolitical and economic disruptions that have imposed serious challenges to global growth and prosperity.
