Hawilti to Host Highly Anticipated Outlook Forum at Africa Oil Week (AOW) 2022
Amid a recent wave of exploratory drilling in Africa, Africa Oil Week (https://Africa-OilWeek.com) is once again organizing a Prospects Forum to provide a platform that will showcase some of the exploitation opportunities and of exploration on the continent. The Prospects Forum will be moderated and moderated by the African investment and commodities research agency Hawilti (www.Hawilti.com).
Working together, Africa Oil Week and Hawilti have lined up a series of world-class assets in onshore, shallow water and deep water areas in Nigeria, Cameroon, Morocco, Namibia and Comoros. The Prospects Forum will once again support deal-making for African and global operators and help unlock further exploration and development potential on the continent.
This year’s edition comes as Africa makes a strong comeback on the global exploration scene following world-class discoveries in Côte d’Ivoire and Namibia in particular. Recent exploration of these frontier markets has demonstrated once again that betting on African exploration is a game worth the risk.
“Despite some disappointments, 2022 remains an exceptional year for African exploration, particularly in new hotspots like the Orange Basin and Cabora Bassa Basin, but also in established jurisdictions,” said Mickael Vogel, Director and head of research at Hawilti, who will host this year’s Prospects Forum.
Nigerian assets will feature prominently as Nigerian independents such as Asharami Energy, Oando Energy Resources and Platform Petroleum showcase their opportunities in Africa’s largest brownfield market. Nigeria completely overhauled its regulatory regime last year with the passing of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA), and market activity is now picking up.
Onshore assets will also be showcased, particularly in markets where exploration has had strong recent successes. Genel Energy will notably present a farm-in opportunity on its Lagzira block in Morocco, while Monitor Exploration will detail the potential of the Owambo basin onshore in Namibia.
This year’s Prospects Forum will be hosted exclusively by freelancers, with Discover Exploration and Tower Resources also joining the list of presenters to promote attractive offshore assets in Cameroon and Comoros.
Harnessing the current momentum in the industry, the Forum will once again seek to forge new partnerships and attract the best explorers and investors to African opportunities.

About Africa Oil Week and Green Energy Africa Summit:
Africa Oil Week offers four days of pioneering information, ranging from ministerial panels to strategic insights designed to boost investment in Africa’s upstream for the benefit of the continent. At the heart of the event are some of the most compelling insights into the upstream strategies of governments across the continent.
These extensive and varied networking opportunities have resulted in an unprecedented return of delegates year after year.
AOW is world famous for bringing together the most experienced delegates every year. In 2021, AOW hosted over 30 Ministers and Heads of Government, over 2,000 C-Level Delegates, Representatives and hundreds of Vice Presidents and Vice Presidents from Africa, Exploration and New Ventures – making the event the most influential energy conference in Africa.
While Africa Oil Week will retain its identity as a pure hydrocarbon event to champion upstream development, the Africa Green Energy Summit will also play its part in creating enabling environments to ensure that investment Foreign Direct is being deployed in breakthrough projects that will reduce the energy deficit and ensure access to energy across the continent.
