HONG KONG SAR – Media outreach – August 31, 2022 – GS1 Hong Kong (GS1 HK) today hosted the 2022 Annual Food Safety Forum with the theme “Food Safety and Consumer Trust: Navigating the Way Forward”, where food manufacturers , service providers, brands, importers/exporters, logistics suppliers and retailers came together to discuss food safety and supply challenges posed by the lingering pandemic, and to seek ways to foster consumer confidence and the sustainable development of the industry. In his opening message, Mr. Tse highlighted the government’s efforts to ensure food safety and mentioned that the Center for Food Safety was taking more than 66,000 food samples at import, wholesale and retail for testing, with an overall satisfactory rate of 99.9% in 2021. The Center also used social media to proactively gauge the public’s pulse on various security issues and deliver targeted messages on social media platforms, to raise awareness about food safety and dispel doubts and concerns in a timely manner.
