The season will pave the way for the first bioeconomy conference to take place after the Northern Hemisphere Summer.

This season marks the 5and edition since its creation in 2018. The last annual conference was organized in Belém, Brazil last fall.

During this season, the Global Bioeconomy Forum aims to spark key discussions on the role of the bioeconomy and bioproducts in mitigating climate change. In the Forum, we believe that the bioeconomy and bioproducts are additional tools in the fight against climate change. Therefore, the annual conference is named: The World BioEconomy Forum talks about the climate – live from Ruka! The theme will be reiterated throughout the events of the 2022 season, and it will also be featured in the Annual declaration.

Jukka Kantola shares his thoughts: “I am extremely happy that we are bringing the Forum back to Ruka! This is part of our shuttle strategy between the southern and northern hemispheres. framework to discuss our 2022 seasonal theme. The Forum, which will be a hybrid event, will also celebrate its 5and anniversary – The bioeconomy celebrates nature!”

The 2022 Forum will be held as a hybrid event and the program is organized according to the four-pillar structure.

The four-pillar structure of the Global Bioeconomy Forum

The Forum operates under a strict four-pillar structure: I The bioeconomy: people, planet, politics, II World leaders and the financial world, III The bioproducts around us and IV Look to the future. Using the four-pillar structure allows for a comprehensive assessment of the state of the circular bioeconomy and thus facilitates developments across the sector. This makes the Forum and its activities extremely powerful and effective, facilitating a holistic bioeconomy and making significant joint efforts in mitigating climate change.

All Forum programs and activities are aligned with the four-pillar structure, including all roundtables and the annual statement. This four-pillar structure ensures that all relevant players in the circular bioeconomy have a voice and a platform.
