Real test of the team, the manager and the project tonight… 15:13 – August 16 with 238 views | unstableblue |
…if you’re serious about automatic promotion it’s a game to be won, its 3 points in the bag for the coming season. It’s that simple.
Burton is in poor condition, low trust in players and fans, dissent over manager and injuries. We have a fully fit and far superior team, that is, fit except for one player, and we have sold our away team. It’s a real test to know where we are. The core of the team has been together for a long time now, the manager had time to put his plans and system into the player. A win tonight and we rock and really get rid of the problems of last season. And I would start to be optimistic – even with Derby, Bolton and Pompey expected to win. A defeat and we hope it’s a lone blow and we’ll take 6 points from Shrews and Barnsley….but tonight is the right time to score a marker! Who is with me!!?? |

It will be nice to get the 3 straight wins that we failed miserably to do last season as well. Another mental block that the team can overcome tonight.

Let’s take each game as it comes.
We have 43 to go. And probably at least 10 more to know how we and the division really look. The good news seems to be that we now have a better balance as a team. An already more beautiful left side, but also we attack and defend from front to back and as one unit. With more confidence in the setup and overall approach, I hope players can continue to work for each other and trust the process now. And keep our fingers crossed for the results we deserve. |

Most certainly will. It’s the kind of game we’ve been slipping on for the past 3 seasons and it’s what intrigues me the most. Their style of play is much more direct than ours and they will put us under pressure from set pieces and throw-ins. Here’s hoping we stand tall and get through this, while playing our brand of football to undo them. An interesting night ahead.

I understand your drift and I agree that this is a game that would be really good to win. This will set us up nicely, build confidence (in us as well as the players) and hopefully help build momentum as we enter the season.
But this is by no means a “to win” game! |

I’m not sure this will become a game to be won, but okay with the sentiment, win tonight and then we might really start to roll as opposed to the stutter we’re used to.
You feel like if we go running now it will be the result of a stable team playing to a clear set of instructions instead of an abnormal series of conversion chances like we’ve seen in the past . If we can win 3 or 4 on the rebound and line up, I think this team, playing that way might start to look imperious. Keep getting flat, weird performance or results and it just might mean more than we’re used to. |

Yes, that’s a key point… Wigan and Rotherham have won 3 in a row… on 15:50 – August 16 with 24 views | unstableblue
… at the start of last season And a victory tonight gives us the confidence to continue a real race of form. Rotherham ended up with 2 blocks of 3 successive wins, and a block of 6! |
