It is estimated that 350 million people worldwide are affected by color blindness. One in 200 women and one in 12 men (8%) suffer from color vision deficiency; statistically, more than three million men in Germany are affected.
People with normal color vision can perceive over a million shades and shades of color, while color blind people can only see a fraction (about 10%). Common color confusions are green and yellow, gray and pink, purple and blue, red and brown. To them, the colors seem dull and washed out. Some colors are also difficult for people with color blindness to distinguish from each other.
Special optical filters in EnChroma glasses help people with color blindness perceive a wider range of colors and see colors more vividly, clearly and distinctly.
To draw attention to the prevalence and impact of color blindness, Faber-Castell and EnChroma have created a joint Father’s Day video that impressively illustrates the effect of glasses: color blind dads can, using EnChroma glasses, see for the first time in their lives colorful images that their children have drawn for them with Faber-Castell crayons in rich, luminous colors. Click here to access the video ( https://www.faber-castell.com/colour-blindness ). From 26.05, the video will also be broadcast on the social networks Faber-Castell and EnChroma.
“The color experience is at the heart of both EnChroma and Faber-Castell,” said Erik Ritchie, CEO of EnChroma. “We are therefore delighted to be involved in this collaborative project which will allow color-blind fathers to discover for the first time the creativity of their children in all its glory.”
The motto “Give Joy for Father’s Day” is also the motto of the EnChroma online store from May 26 to June 20, 2022: at eu.enchroma.com, all customers will receive a 15% discount on the purchase of a pair of EnChroma glasses during the promotional period with the special code FABER15plus a set of 24 free Color Grip pencils in a metal case from Faber-Castell (while supplies last).
Patented EnChroma lens technology uses specially designed optical filters to expand the range of colors perceived by people with color vision deficiencies (CVD). A joint study by the University of California at Davis and INSERM, the French National Institute for Health and Medical Research, confirmed the effectiveness of EnChroma glasses. Another study, published in January 2022 in the scientific publication Eye-Nature, also highlights the effectiveness of glasses for people with color vision loss.
