Downtown Maryville Members Attend National Conference |

MARYVILLE, Missouri — DeAnn Davison, Executive Director of Downtown Maryville, and Stephanie Campbell, Board Chair, attended the Main Street America conference in Richmond, Va., last week.

Main Street America is a national organization that provides guidelines aimed at strengthening economic revitalization to improve the overall quality of life, said a news release from downtown Maryville.

The theme for the conference, held May 23-26, was “Together, Once Again” and was about celebrating community resilience and reinvesting in national main streets.

Davison and Campbell attended workshops and briefings that discussed strategic opportunities to strengthen and expand business districts while facing the economic future post-COVID-19 pandemic.

Stephanie Campbell, President of the Maryville Downtown Improvement Organization, speaks at the 2021 Downtown Pocket Park Groundbreaking Ceremony. She and MDIO Executive Director DeAnn Davison recently attended a conference to garner more ideas for improving the downtown area.

“The Main Street conference provided valuable insights that downtown Maryville can use to promote and advocate for our downtown corridor,” Davison said in the release. “As a new director, learning from and connecting with experienced professionals across the country is a tremendous asset.”

Besides the focus on the post-pandemic economy, the conference also highlighted the need to preserve community values, traditions and culture as well as housing and small-scale development.

“The opportunity to collaborate with our peers and learn from our peers in all areas of Main Street was extraordinary,” Davison said. “We are excited to work with our downtown Maryville businesses to continue to drive growth, inspire energy and drive traffic to our downtown.”
