DOST to showcase various Philippine innovations in business forum – Manila Bulletin

As part of its aim to boost the country’s enterprises in the science and technology (S&T) sector, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) is set to showcase various start-up innovations. and Filipino technology companies in a forum with Middle Eastern investors.

DOST said the event will be held on Tuesday, March 15 from 2-5 p.m.

“While the Philippines is full of brilliant and talented scientists and researchers, it is just necessary for us to proudly showcase their innovations and connect them with international partners,” said DOST Assistant Secretary for International Cooperation, Dr. Lea Buendia, in a press release Thursday. , March 10.

Buendia also noted the “great opportunity” of science, technology and innovation in the Middle East, adding that it would be beneficial for the country to “synergize” with them.

Among the innovations DOST will showcase are: Cropital, a “scoring model” that will benefit farmers; AI for Water Management, a forecasting model for water supply systems in Metro Manila; Intellex, a “cloud-based” data analysis for reducing electricity costs; CHARM, a rapid charging system for electric tricycles; and Vigormin, an organic-based wastewater treatment and odor reduction formulation.

Innovations also include an advanced pressure management system that optimizes pump operation called RTAP; a knee replacement system with a wide range of sizes called Axis Knee System; USHER which will allow building managers to monitor buildings and bridges 24/7; eco-friendly, plant-based yarns and dyes called natural yarn and dye kits; and finally, a patented technology for the production of blended yarns of natural textile fibers called Philippine Tropical Fabrics.

According to DOST, all of these 10 innovations were developed with financial and technical assistance from DOST’s Philippine Council for Industrial, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (PCIEERD) and the Institute Technology Application and Promotion (TAPI).
