CHEFS FORUM REACHES 10 IN STYLE IN DAKOTA MANCHESTER – FE News
70 guests, including chefs, vendors and colleges, gathered for an afternoon of fine dining to celebrate 10 years of the Chefs Forum on January 10 at the Dakota Hotel in Manchester.
The event, organized in collaboration with Manchester College, saw 20 chef students work in the kitchen under the guidance of chefs Adam Reid, Dan Moon, Exose Grant as well as Sam Karle and Amanda Gasiorowska of the Dakota Hotel, Manchester.
“The five course lunch we prepared was absolutely typical of the way we have worked for 10 years”, said Catherine Farinha, founder of The Chefs’ Forum, afterwards. “We paired exceptional vendors with brilliant chefs in a way that university chefs could learn and guests could appreciate. Can’t believe 10 years have passed and we celebrated it with such style in Manchester. I am overwhelmed by the support, the friends we have made and the students whose lives we have been able to illuminate.
Speaking at the lunch, Lisa O’Loughlin, Principal of Manchester College, said: “The Academy of Chefs’ Forum has helped our students not only with their classes, but also with life skills. The chefs who enter allow them to learn about the industry in a completely new way. I must stop the chefs from taking our chefs before they finish their lessons! It is a wonderful partnership and today it is an example. They gain such valuable experience from these events.
Denise Charles, Head of Studies Program at West London College, said: “It’s about meeting the industry – without the coming of the chefs organized by The Chefs’ Forum, it wouldn’t be the same. We couldn’t get it on our own. Today has been brilliant.
Matt Townley, Managing Director of The Dakota Hotel, Manchester said: “This is exactly the kind of event we like to organize. We love to be involved in education and quality and it is wonderful to be involved in the Forum des Chefs. There are some incredibly talented young chefs in the kitchens here today.
“It’s a matter of relationships” Catherine Farinha continued. “From the very beginning, when I started The Chefs’ Forum ten years ago, when I was five months pregnant with my third child, I knew in my heart that this was something the industry needed and wanted at the same time.
“We’re building relationships between colleges and industry and between vendors and chefs. Overall, we all contribute to the well-being of student chefs and their future and to the continuing education of existing and experienced chefs.
“10 years is just the start. We have added a new team to The Chefs ‘Forum and we are starting to innovate with the publication of our own content in the form of The Great Game Guide and this year will see the publication of The Chefs’ Knowledge which is being produced by our publisher. Chandos Elletson and designer Lee Yarlett. We are a tight-knit team and everything is produced in-house. Watch this place. “
