CBP’s Thomas Overacker to Lead Border Protection Forum for Potomac Officers Club
Thomas OverakerExecutive Director of Cargo and Transportation Security at U.S. Customs and Border Protection, will headline the Potomac Officers Club’s upcoming virtual event to discuss how the agency uses the technology in its efforts to enhance border security.
He directs CBP’s cargo processing, enforcement, and commerce operations at ports of entry and centers of excellence, and he oversees the procurement and deployment of non-intrusive inspection equipment.
The Department of Homeland Security science and technology department has several programs that seek to help CBP fortify borders on land, at sea, and in the air. President Joe Biden said during his nation state address that the government has deployed new technologies such as modern scanners to detect illicit activities such as drug trafficking.
Overacker’s keynote at the Potomac Officers Club event on March 15 will be followed by a panel discussion on how to balance speed, efficiency and capacity in technology acquisition efforts.
