CALA Announces Youth Forum Community Outreach Event

The Caribbean American Lawyer’s Association, Inc (CALA) is a organization dedicated to promoting unity and togetherness among Caribbean American judges and lawyers, who share a vision to educate, advance, inspire and mentor the Caribbean American legal community. The deputy. Sylvia Hinds-Radix, newly appointed Corporation Counsel for the City of New York, is the founder and current president of the organization.
CALA is honored to announce the next Youth Forum: Careers in Law. The event will take place on Saturday, March 26, 2022, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church located at 3714 Avenue D in Brooklyn.
The event is the brainchild of CALA Vice President Yvette Hinds Wills, pastor Sharon Petgrave-Cundy and UMC St. Paul, who graciously offered to host. This project is a labor of love for Hon. Karen Gopee, Hon. Michele Rodney, Yvette Hinds Wills Esq. and Dale-Fong-Fedrick Esq, who organized, recruited and spread the word.
Students attending Saturday will be able to meet and talk to an incredible group of mentors including judges, prosecutors, private attorneys and senior brass. members of the New York City Police Department, from across the city. These twenty volunteer mentors, all leaders in their field, have agreed to share their personal and professional experiences. experiences as well as answering questions, in hopes of inspiring our next generation.
CALA has invited young people from several local schools, churches and community organizations to participate and is delighted to offer them this opportunity to meet professionals who share a common history.
