Barbados to host the 11th Caribbean Urban Forum
Barbados will host from Wednesday June 15 to Friday June 17 the 11th Caribbean Urban Forum, the major annual regional event on urban planning, development and land management under the theme: Beyond COVID: Recovery – Renewable – Resilience.
The Barbados Town Planning Society is the main host of the Caribbean Urban Forum (CUF) 2022, a “hybrid” event with in-person and virtual sessions. In-person sessions will take place at the Central Bank of Barbados conference spaces: Frank Collymore Hall, the Great Hall and the Exchange Museum in historic Bridgetown.
The Caribbean Urban Forum is the premier opportunity for practitioners, policy makers and researchers to share experiences, knowledge and strategies across the Caribbean.
Under the theme : Beyond COVID: Recovery – Renewable – Resilience, CUF 2022 seeks to learn from the lessons learned in the face of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. This will include exploring sustainable land management and spatial development strategies and policies for small island states in the Caribbean, as well as addressing issues of renewable resources, resilience to a global climate crisis, sensitive economies and management of ecosystem services.
Scheduled to be an inclusive and diverse event, CUF invites practitioners, policy makers, researchers, students and members of the general public interested in the future of Caribbean urban spaces to join the event as we let’s explore the next steps in a world beyond COVID and climate smart.
Co-organizers of CUF 2022 include the Caribbean Network for Urban and Land Management (CNULM – blueSpace Caribbean) based at the St. Augustine campus of the University of the West Indies. The Office of the Prime Minister in Barbados (PMO), the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB), the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). The CUF is also supported by other national, regional and international organizations.
