Armstrong Flooring purchased by the McKendrick family

The Australian business of vinyl flooring manufacturer Armstrong Flooring will continue operations following a purchase agreement by Cowes Bay Group (CBG).

Armstrong has operated in Australia since the 1960s, the sale resulting from the reorganization of the American company Armstrong World Industries.

The company is one of Australia’s largest users of post-consumer PVC and its plant in Braeside, Victoria, manufactures a wide range of products for the healthcare, education, retail and hospitality.

CBG was established by the McKendrick family known for their experience in the manufacture and distribution of residential and commercial flooring products and the purchase of related assets in the flooring industry in Australia and New Zealand .

Kim McKendrick, the former president and owner of Godfrey Hirst Carpets, is the company’s chief executive.

The McKendrick family succeeded in making Godfrey Hirst the largest manufacturer and exporter of residential and commercial carpets in Australia and New Zealand, before selling to the world’s largest flooring company, Mohawk Industries.
