Afghanistan on the agenda of the Antalya Diplomatic Forum

The Antalya Diplomatic Forum held on Friday included officials and envoys from around 200 countries, including Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi, and the meeting focused on Ukraine, but l Afghanistan was also on the agenda.

A delegation from the Islamic Emirate left Kabul for Turkey earlier in the week, and the forum will take place from March 11-13.

On the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomatic Forum, Muttaqi held a trilateral meeting with Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and US Special Envoy for Afghanistan Thomas West, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) .

“During this meeting, many different topics including recognition of the Islamic Emirate, economic development and expansion of political relations were discussed,” said Zia Ahmad Takal, deputy spokesperson of MoFA.

“The Islamic Emirate has fulfilled all the conditions for recognition and should be recognized by the international community. Afghan assets should be released and there should be engagement with Afghanistan and good Afghans,” Muttaqi told reporters in Turkey.

On Thursday, West tweeted that he will be attending the Antalya Diplomatic Forum from March 11-13 in Turkey, and he looks forward to “discussions with important partners regarding international engagement with Afghanistan.”

Muttaqi is expected to meet diplomats and envoys from several countries on Afghanistan, during which he will stress the extension of diplomatic relations with the international community.

“Until the conditions of the world are met by the Islamic Emirate and positive steps are taken, I don’t think these meetings will be effective,” said Sayed Sijadi, an international relations analyst.

According to the MoFA, the Afghan delegation will ask the international community to step up humanitarian efforts for Afghanistan.

“I hope that all relevant issues with the United States will be clearly explained at this meeting,” said political analyst Ahmad Khan Andar. —Tolonews
